The Fourth International’s English-language review, from 1982

Anniversaries

The review marked dates: ten years since the victory in Vietnam, thirty since the Cuban revolution, fifty since the founding of the Fourth International, five hundred since Columbus. They are gathered here by the last digit of the year in which the event happened, because that is the digit its round anniversaries fall on: the Fourth International, founded in 1938, comes round again in 2038; Che Guevara, killed in 1967, in 2027. Reading one group gives the dates that fall together, in calendar order.

An article rarely names the year it remembers: it says “ten years after” and leaves the sum to the reader. The year is worked out here and each date checked; where the article gets it wrong, the real date is given and the note says so. Only articles that mark a date are listed, not those that mention one in passing.
