International Viewpoint Archive

The Fourth International’s English-language review, from 1982

About this archive

An alpha. The archive is being built and this is what is in it so far.

What is here, and what is not

International Viewpoint was launched in January 1982 as the English-language review of the Fourth International, published in Paris under the responsibility of its Bureau, beside the French Inprecor. It continues today at internationalviewpoint.org, whose own online archive begins in 1997. This archive covers the years before that, starting with a pilot of 1982–83.

Not yet held: nos. 5, 23, 27, 31 and 42–44, which are missing from the Marxists Internet Archive’s run of scans. If you have copies, please tell us.

Where the text comes from, and how far to trust it

Every article is read by machine (Apple’s Vision engine) from the Marxists Internet Archive’s scans, and cut into articles using the issue’s own printed contents list, checked against the page image by eye. Accurate enough to read and to search, but it carries scanner errors; headlines and captions are the worst of it. Quote from the scan, not from here.
